Completed application received (Agency Action)
  • Non-conformance Explanation:
BLM received the initial SF299 on March 28, 2025; BLM notified NANA on May 14, 2025, that the application contained deficiencies. NANA responded to those requests on June 18 (within the 30-day lockout period). BLM did a cursory review of the responses and found that sections were now present; however, upon further review, BLM found that deficiencies still exist. BLM sent the “round 2” deficiency request to NANA on July 2 and hope to receive all requested information by July 25.

Description:

The NANA Regional Corporation, Inc. proposes to implement a high-speed broadband network in the NANA region through the Tribal Broadband Connectivity Program. The proposed ~725-mile fiber optic cable route consists of a combination of terrestrial ground-laid, subsea, trenched, and aerial cable to connect villages across vast distances to the broadband Point of Presence in Kotzebue. The Project plans to bring a fiber-based broadband network capable of providing high-speed internet services to Alaska Native Villages in the NANA Region.
