Description:
Orla Mining/Gold Standard Ventures (US) is proposing to construct, operate and reclaim a new gold and silver mine from which ore would be extracted using conventional surface mining techniques and associated facilities. Ore extraction would occur in 4 open pits; 2 of which would require dewatering and result in the formation of post-mining pit lakes. The proposed mine plan boundary includes 8,548 acres, consisting of a 7,158-acre mining area and 1,390-acre access road area. Of the 8,548 acres, approximately 4,624 acres are on BLM-administered lands and 3,924 acres are on fee simple private lands. In total, 1,770 acres of surface disturbance would occur, with 839 acres of that disturbance on the private land and 931 acres on BLM-administered land. 1,267 acres of the disturbance would be temporary, and 503 acres would be permanent disturbance. The life of the proposed action is approximately 16.5 years and includes approximately 1.5 years for construction, 10 years for operations, and 5 years for reclamation.
