Permitting Council Executive Director Releases Third Fiscal Quarter Agency Performance Report
WASHINGTON (September 6, 2022)- This week the Federal Permitting Improvement Steering Council (Permitting Council) Executive Director released its third fiscal quarter Agency Performance Report. This report assesses agency compliance with the provisions of Title 41 of the Fixing America’s Surface Transportation Act (FAST-41), and identifies the provisions of FAST-41 with which the Executive Director will assess agency compliance in successive reports, as the Permitting Council builds a compliance reporting infrastructure.
Federal Permitting Improvement Steering Council Arms Agencies with Tools Needed to Strengthen Infrastructure Permitting
WASHINGTON (September 1, 2022)- This week the Federal Permitting Improvement Steering Council (Permitting Council), in coordination with the General Services Administration (GSA), issued a Basic Order Agreement (BOA) to seven contracting companies in support of infrastructure permitting. With this Federal contracting tool, Federal agencies will have access to industry experts that can assist in fulfilling the increase in infrastructure projects coming down the pipeline as a result of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL).
Six Technology-Related Infrastructure Sectors Added to FAST-41
Yesterday, President Biden signed into law S.3451, adding six technology-related infrastructure sectors to FAST-41, which allows projects in those sectors to obtain permitting timetable transparency and management benefits of the FAST-41 program:
- Semiconductors
- Artificial intelligence and machine learning
- High-performance computing and advanced computer hardware and software
- Quantum information science and technology
- Data storage and data management
- Cybersecurity
Congress Passes Inflation Reduction Act
WASHINGTON (August 12, 2022)- Today, Congress passed the Inflation Reduction Act, a landmark investment in our nation’s future that will transform efforts to combat climate change and infuse $350 million into the Federal Permitting Improvement Steering Council (Permitting Council) to advance permitting efficiency and predictability. The Act is expected to lower energy costs, increase cleaner production and reduce carbon emissions by approximately 40% by 2030.
