First-Ever Tribal and First Broadband Project Receives FAST-41 Coverage

WASHINGTON (May 9, 2023) – The Permitting Council is excited to announce the first Tribal and first broadband project to receive FAST-41 coverage. If permitted, the Santa Fe Indian School Pueblo Education Network Broadband project will provide high speed internet access to communities and students throughout rural and Tribal areas of New Mexico. 

Permitting Council Announces First-Ever Critical Minerals Mining Project to Gain FAST-41 Coverage

WASHINGTON (May 8, 2023) – Today, the Permitting Council announces the first mining project to receive FAST-41 coverage. The $1.7 billion South32 Hermosa Critical Minerals project is a proposed zinc and manganese mining and processing operation located 55 miles south of Tucson, Arizona. If permitted, the project would be the largest investment in Santa Cruz County, Arizona history.

FAST-41 Annual Report to Congress for FY 2022

The Federal Permitting Improvement Steering Council (Permitting Council) has released its Annual Report to Congress for Fiscal Year (FY) 2022. Charged with improving the transparency, predictability and outcomes of the Federal environmental review and authorization process for certain critical infrastructure projects, the report showcases a commitment to the country’s clean energy future that will build upon the nation’s economic and environmental legacy for generations to come.

Permitting Council Executive Director Releases Annual Report to Congress

WASHINGTON (April 18, 2023) – Today, the Federal Permitting Improvement Steering Council (Permitting Council) Executive Director released the agency’s Annual Report to Congress. The report highlights a transformative year for the Permitting Council, featuring landmark investment, institutional evolution, and innovative new ways to support Federal agencies as we work to make the permitting review process more transparent, better coordinated, and ultimately more accountable.
