Permitting Council Submits Fiscal Year 2023 Budget Request to Congress
The Federal Permitting Improvement Steering Council (Permitting Council) is charged with improving the transparency, predictability and outcomes of the Federal environmental review and authorization process for certain large-scale critical infrastructure projects, primarily in the electricity transmission and renewable energy sectors. Through its fiscal year 2023 budget request to Congress, the Permitting Council supports the Administration’s energy, environmental, and project delivery goals with investments supporting jobs and solutions in renewable and more clean energy.
U.S. FPISC Puts Environmental Justice at the Core of the Federal Infrastructure Permitting Process
The U.S. Federal Permitting Improvement Steering Council announces the launch of its Environmental Justice Community Listening Series. The series aims to ensure that voices of color have a seat at the table during every stage of the infrastructure permitting process. The first event of the series, held in partnership with the White House Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ) and the White House Initiative on Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders (WHIAANHPI), focused on concerns within the Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AA and NHPI) communities.
Manisha Patel Joins the Permitting Council as Deputy Executive Director
Manisha Patel has been named the Deputy Executive Director for the Federal Permitting Improvement Steering Council. She is a seasoned executive with deep experience in infrastructure, environmental regulations, and protecting our natural resources and producing positive outcomes for our communities. Ms. Patel brings over 25 years of experience in both public and private sectors.
Federal Government Approves Construction for New York’s First Offshore Wind Farm
The U.S. Department of the Interior’s Bureau of Ocean Energy Management approved the construction and operations plan for the South Fork Wind project, marking the first offshore wind energy project to complete the Federal environmental review and authorization process, known as FAST-41. The Ørsted and Eversource project, the first offshore wind farm slated to deliver electricity to New York, is scheduled to begin operations at the end of 2023.
