Description:

Department of Army authorization from the US Army Corps of Engineers New England District is required pursuant to Section 10 of the Rivers and Harbors Act of 1899 and Section 404 of the Clean Water Act.  Activities that require authorization include: Installation of turbine structures on monopile foundations embedded in the ocean floor. Installation of export cable(s) and associated cable protection. Installation of inter-array cables between turbine structures and offshore substations. Monopile or jacket pile supported offshore substation(s). Horizontal directional drilling will be utilized along the shoreline for the export cable to begin its path to a substation/grid connection.

  • Monthly Status Report for April 2025:
    As per the January 20, 2025 Presidential Memorandum, Temporary Withdrawal of All Areas on the Outer Continental Shelf from Offshore Wind Leasing and Review of the Federal Government’s Leasing and Permitting Practices for Wind Projects, USACE has paused the decision making for SouthCoast Wind until a comprehensive assessment by the Department of the Interior for wind energy leasing and permitting practices is completed. The final milestone has been rescheduled for June 26, 2025 and will be reassessed as needed in accordance with the above referenced Presidential Memorandum.

The review will result in an updated permitting timetable for all remaining actions, including this milestone. BOEM submitted a revised timetable on February 16, 2024.

The review will result in an updated permitting timetable for all remaining actions, including this milestone. BOEM intends to submit a revised timetable after February 16, 2024.
