Project sponsor delays in providing the required Coastal Zone Management Act (CZMA)-related
application to the state of New Jersey is causing a delay in completion of the Federal consistency review
and decision, which is needed prior to BOEM issuing a construction and operations plan (COP) decision.
Generally, BOEM requires the consistency determination be complete 90-days prior to the Record of
Decision (ROD).

Description:

The purpose of the Atlantic Shores South (which includes Project 1 and Project 2 or, collectively, the Projects) is to develop two offshore wind energy generation facilities in the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) Lease Area OCSA 0499 to provide clean, renewable energy to the Northeastern U.S. by the mid-to-late 2020s.

Update:

The Executive Director granted a Bureau of Ocean Energy Management request to extend the COP, Section 106, and Section 408 completion dates on June 15, 2023. The Executive Director determination is posted here.
