Description:

The 600-megawatt (MW) Stagecoach Wind Project, once installed at full capacity, will be only the second and the largest wind generating facility in the State of Nevada. The project site is located approximately 18 miles east of Eureka, Nevada, in the largely uninhabited Newark Valley. U.S. Highway 50 crosses through the northern part of the project site. Project interconnection with the power grid would occur at the Robinson Summit Substation, 27.9 miles to the east.

Average annual energy production from a 600 MW project equates to the annual electricity needs of approximately 145,000 households. Wind power is generated in the morning and evening hours, which provides balancing to the grid where there is a large integration of mid-day solar generation. The Project would generate greenhouse gas-free electricity that would offset approximately 1,290,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide and other emissions that would result from producing an equivalent amount of electricity from fossil fuel-fired electric generators.
