FPISC Rebrands as the Permitting Council

WASHINGTON (March 8, 2024) – Today, the Federal Permitting Improvement Steering Council (Permitting Council) unveiled new branding in advance of next year's 10 year anniversary of the founding of the agency. The agency now has a new name –the Permitting Council– and new tagline, Where Projects See Progress, as it works to transform federal environmental permitting review in order to bring once-in-a-generation infrastructure projects to life.

Grain Belt Express is the Latest FAST-41 Covered Project

WASHINGTON (February 22, 2024) – The Federal Permitting Improvement Steering Council (Permitting Council) is pleased to announce that the Grain Belt Express project is now covered under the FAST-41 program. Coverage under FAST-41 will ensure that the project has a transparent project timetable and will facilitate coordination between the project sponsor, the Department of Energy and the other Federal agencies that will play a cooperating role on the project’s environmental review. If permitted, this $2 billion electricity transmission project could play a transformational role in helping states and utilities in the Midwest shift from fossil fuel generation.

Biden-Harris Administration Appoints Monica Sanchez as Director of Public Engagement for the Permitting Council

WASHINGTON (January 31, 2024) — The Federal Permitting Improvement Steering Council (Permitting Council) is pleased to announce the appointment of Monica Sanchez as the Director of Public Engagement. Sanchez brings with her a decade of experience successfully driving high-impact initiatives and campaigns in the federal government. She joins the Permitting Council from the Department of Energy (DOE), where she served as the Director of External Affairs for DOE’s Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE).
