WASHINGTON (April 24, 2024) – The Permitting Council (Federal Permitting Improvement Steering Council) is pleased to announce that Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind is the latest project to complete its required federal environmental permitting review and authorizations with permitting assistance from the Council. The $9.8 billion renewable energy project is expected to power up to 660,000 homes.

The report showcases a year of tremendous growth and forward-thinking innovation, as the agency makes substantial investments in permitting review and authorization processes while assisting several impactful projects to the permitting finish line.
WASHINGTON (March 29, 2024) – Today, the Permitting Council Executive Director released the fiscal year 2024 first quarter report to Congress, evaluating federal agency compliance with FAST-41 requirements. The report showcases continued improvement in agency coordination and collaboration, in addition to two projects completing the federal environmental permitting process.
WASHINGTON (March 26, 2024) – The Permitting Council is pleased to announce that the Empire Wind project has received all necessary federal environmental permitting approvals and is now complete on the FAST-41 permitting dashboard. The offshore wind project is expected to generate 2.1 GW of renewable energy, potentially powering over 700,000 New York homes.
