Description:
The City of Hamilton, in cooperation with the Butler County Transportation Improvement District (BCTID) and the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT), developed the North Hamilton Crossing (NHX) project to address longstanding transportation challenges in the northern part of Hamilton, Ohio. These challenges include congestion from increasing traffic volumes, a higher-than average crash rate, delays at train crossings, and bridge congestion on existing Great Miami River crossings.
The proposed NHX project is a four-lane, boulevard-style roadway which extends between NW Washington Boulevard and North B Street on the west side of the Great Miami River, and SR 129 at Hampshire Drive on the east side, a distance of approximately 2.5 miles. NHX includes a new bridge over the Great Miami River, a grade-separated crossing of the CSX/Norfolk Southern rail line, sidewalks, a shared-use path, and landscaped medians.
