Description:

The Borough of Carteret, NJ seeks to construct a ferry terminal that would facilitate commuter ferry service between the Borough of Carteret and New York City. The proposed ferry terminal would be constructed on the waterfront of the Arthur Kill tidal strait approximately 45 minutes south of Manhattan, in Middlesex County, NJ. The project includes construction of a five-story, 62,500 square foot terminal building, floating docks with capability to accommodate two 149 passenger vessels, and ancillary site improvements, such as sidewalks, parking, lighting, landscaping. The Borough believes implementation of commuter ferry service will catalyze economic development and provide a high-quality transit option for its residents.
