Description:
The BLM is the lead federal agency for compliance with Section 106 of the NHPA. The Section 106 process seeks to accommodate historic preservation concerns with the needs of federal undertakings through consultation among the agency official and other parties with an interest in the effects of the undertaking on historic properties (36 CFR 800.1 and 36 CFR 800.2). The Programmatic Agreement is the legally binding document which identifies the terms and conditions agreed upon to provide for the phased approach to fulfill requirements of Section 106. The Programmatic Agreement was completed, and signed by the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation, dated Feb. 3, 2017.
