Milestone Extension: Environmental Impact Statement (EIS)

Submitted by carlos_arandia on

The Commission’s previous notice of schedule, issued on August 31, 2018, identified issuance dates of November 8, 2019, for the final EIS, and February 6, 2020, for the final order (based on issuance of a draft EIS in February 2019). The previous notice stated that the forecasted schedule was based upon the project sponsor providing complete and timely responses to any data requests. In its partial data request responses filed in January and February 2019, the project sponsor states that it would provide the remainder of the responses in stages through July 2019. As a result, the Commission revised the schedule for issuance of the draft and final EISs and final order in a notice issued on February 28, 2019. The revised schedule is based upon the project sponsor meeting its commitment to provide complete responses to outstanding data requests on the dates it has identified. Commission staff emailed the notice to the relevant agencies and project sponsor.

Description:

The Alaska LNG Project is comprised of the following integrated and interdependent facilities:  a liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal in Southcentral Alaska designed to produce up to 20 million metric tons per annum of LNG; an approximately 807-mile, 42-inch diameter gas pipeline; a gas treatment plant (GTP) within the Prudhoe Bay Unit (PBU) on the North Slope; an approximately 1-mile, 60-inch diameter gas transmission line connecting the GTP to the PBU gas production facility; and an approximately 63 mile, 32-inch diameter gas transmission line connecting the GTP to the Point Thomson gas production facility.  The mainline of the Alaska LNG Project will traverse over 800 miles from the GTP on the North Slope of Alaska through several boroughs before it crosses Cook Inlet and connects with the liquefaction plant and marine terminal in Nikiski, Alaska.
