The Corps is requesting an extension of the FPL Turkey Point project from April 22, 2019 until May 22, 2019. A Department of the Army permit cannot be issued until we receive: A complete mitigation plan. A request for additional information was sent to the applicant on February 26, 2019 and the applicant provided a response March 19, 2019. The Corps will need the extension to review the information and incorporate it into the record of decision. The Corps (Regulatory) cannot issue a permit until the mitigation is finalized. Should submittal of any required information be delayed, the Corps will adjust its timeline accordingly.

The USACE proffered the remaining permit to the project sponsor (Florida Power and Light) December 18, 2019.
Florida Power and Light Company (FPL), seeks approval for constructing and operating two new AP1000 reactor units at the Turkey Point site to provide additional electricity for use in the Southern Florida service areas. The two new units would be capable of providing an additional 2200 megawatts of baseload electricity.
