Description:
During a November 12, 2020, Interagency Call, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Norfolk District informed NMFS that they decided to pursue a waiver to postpone completion of the ESA Section 7 consultation until the Preconstruction Engineering and Design (PED) phase of this project. The reason for pursuing this waiver was because necessary project details regarding floodgate designs and associated hydromodeling would not be available until the PED phase due to the unusual scope and complexity of proposed components of the Collier County CSRM study (e.g. floodgates, tide gates, unique and sensitive environmental conditions of the project area).
