Description:

The New Hampshire Department of Transportation (NHDOT), in coordination with the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) and the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT), propose to develop a commuter rail extension project from Lowell, MA to Manchester, NH.  The Nashua-Manchester Commuter Rail (Capitol Corridor) Project would extend the existing MBTA passenger rail service approximately 30 miles northward from Lowell, MA to Nashua and Manchester, NH using approximately 9 miles of existing MBTA railway and approximately 21 miles of existing Pan Am Railways’ New Hampshire Main Line railway. The project proposes rail corridor infrastructure upgrades along 30 miles of railway, the construction of four new commuter rail stations in South Nashua, Downtown Nashua, Bedford, and Downtown Manchester, and one layover facility Manchester.
