Description:

The White Pine Pumped Storage Project (P-14851) is a proposed 1,000-megawatt (MW) closed-loop pumped storage hydroelectric power facility that would be located in White Pine County, NV.  Proposed new Project facilities, including the upper and lower reservoirs, underground water conveyance structures, underground powerhouse with generating and pumping equipment, groundwater supply wells, switchyard, access roads and tunnels, and ancillary facilities would be located approximately eight (8) miles northeast of the City of Ely.  The proposed new 345-kilovolt (kV) Project transmission line would extend approximately 25 miles west from the Project switchyard to the existing Robinson Summit substation located south of US-50.  The Project transmission line would be located predominantly on lands managed by the BLM within the 110-114 Corridor (Ely to Milford) of the Section 368 Region 3 Energy Corridor and immediately north of the existing NV Energy transmission line #3430 (BLM serial number 63162).  The Project would occupy 1,095.76 acres of federal land managed by the U.S. Bureau of Land Management.
