Description:

American Battery Technology Company (ABTC) proposes to construct a surface mine and critical mineral lithium refinery about six (6) miles west of Tonopah, Nevada in Esmeralda and Nye Counties. The proposed activities include exploration drilling, surface mining, and construction and operation of a processing facility for the production of approximately 30,000 MT/yr of critical mineral lithium hydroxide monohydrate (LiOH).

The project sponsor facilities and surface disturbance consists of one surface mine operated from one pit, one acid vat leach processing facility for lithium recovery, exploration drill pads, access and haul roads, monitoring and supply wells, stormwater and sediment control facilities, and surface piping. Additional facilities include one waste rock storage facility, growth medium stockpiles, one lined treated solids storage basin, one treated fluids storage basin of location and scope to be determined. The project is located on 10,340 acres of BLM-administered public lands and includes existing and authorized disturbance associated with Notice NVN-100850.
