Description:

American Battery Technology Company (ABTC), an integrated critical battery materials company is proposing to construct and operate its Tonopah Flats Lithium Project (TFLP or Project). The Project boundary encompasses one discrete claim block totaling 10,340 acres of public lands administered by the BLM Battle Mountain District Tonopah Field Office, held through 517 lode claims.

ABTC proposes to conduct surface pit mining for lithium using benching, and truck and shovel methods. The deposit will be mined by conventional truck and shovel. The deposit does not intersect groundwater and is covered by about 50 feet of overburden. ABTC will continue exploration drilling throughout the Project in areas of the claim block not previously explored. Project duration is estimated at over 40 years. Total proposed disturbance including the proposed mine and supporting solar facility includes up to 8,842 acres of disturbance.

The primary objective of the Plan is to construct and operate the surface pit mine and scalable processing facility. The Project facilities and surface disturbance will consist of one (1) pit, one (1) 37,700 ton-per-day milling and processing facility for lithium recovery and tailings dewatering, exploration drill pads, a behind-the-meter 4,439-acre solar photovoltaic field with associated battery energy storage systems, a new substation and power lines, access and haul roads, monitoring and supply wells, stormwater and sediment control, one (1) dry stack tailings facility, one (1) growth medium stockpile, and surface piping and conveyance. The processing facilities will generate a lithium hydroxide monohydrate (LiOH-H2O(s)) product for market.
