Description:
Mosaic Fertilizer, LLC (Mosaic) plans to extend their existing mine to extract phosphate ore from known mineable reserves near their South Fort Meade (SFM) beneficiation plant. Mining will be on portions of an approximately 2,000-acre tract of land in Hardee County, Florida. The land abuts the South Fort Meade Mine - Eastern Extension which lies to the south of State Road 64 (SR 64). Mining involves a number of steps: after land clearing and site preparation, the phosphate ore is extracted, and the land is reclaimed to state standards. The phosphate ore will be beneficiated at Mosaic’s existing SFM beneficiation plant.
