Description:

The Port of Corpus Christi Authority (the “Project Sponsor”) proposes to construct  a desalination facility on Harbor Island, near Port Aransas, Nueces County, Texas that will provide up to 100 million gallons per day (MGD) of product water with an anticipated discharge flow of 191.2 MGD based on 40% recovery of permeate water during reverse osmosis (RO) processing. Additional structures required to complete the facility are intake pumping and screening facilities, intake pipe, intake structure, Corpus Christi Ship Channel (CCSC) outfall and diffuser, Gulf of America (Gulf) outfall discharge tunnel pipe and diffuser. The intake and outfall pipes and associated structures will be constructed in the Gulf on State of Texas property. The discharge routes are via a concrete outfall pipe to a multi-port diffuser approximately 3.1 miles from Harbor Island out into the Gulf and an HDPE pipeline to a multi-port diffuser approximately 300 ft offshore on the south side of Harbor Island in Corpus Christi Channel. The Project proposes a new water supply for the Coastal Bend Region.
