Description:
The Black Bear Natural Gas Development Project includes the construction and operation of three natural gas well pads—Bear Creek, High Plains, and Wolf Creek—located across private land, the Angelina and Sabine National Forests, and USACE surface areas in San Augustine and Sabine Counties, Texas. Each pad will host up to eight horizontally drilled wells targeting private and USFS‑managed minerals.
The project also includes a 36‑inch main gathering pipeline approximately 32 miles long and three secondary 30‑inch gathering lines connecting each pad to the main line. Pipeline construction will use trenching and horizontal directional drilling at streams, wetlands, roads, and other sensitive areas. Temporary access roads, pad‑specific lease roads, and a lay‑flat waterline supplying drilling water from Sam Rayburn Reservoir are also part of the project.
The Executive Director granted a Bureau of Land Management request to extend completion dates for all actions on June 25, 2026. The Executive Director Determination is posted here.
