The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) proposes to construct an alternative route to Interstate 10 (I-10) through El Paso that meets the future transportation needs of the El Paso Metropolitan Area. The ultimate design of the proposed Borderland Expressway Project (formerly known as the Northeast Parkway Project) is a 10.8-mile long, four-lane, limited access, new location facility within a 350-foot right-of-way (ROW) and includes five interchanges.
