Description:

This project proposes to widen State Route (SR) 20 from Interstate (I)-75 to I-575, in Bartow and Cherokee Counties from the existing two (2) to four (4)-lane section to a four (4)-lane section. The proposed four (4)-lane section would be divided with a 20 to 24-foot raised median or a 32-foot depressed median, with median breaks at designated locations. The total project length is approximately 17 miles. The existing right-of-way (ROW) of SR 20 is approximately 100 feet and would be widened to 150-400 feet (ft). Major structures include existing bridges over Stamp and Boston Creeks and Knox Bridge over Lake Allatoona/Etowah River. The proposed project would also include intersection improvements by adding roundabouts, Restricted Crossing U-Turns (RCUTs), and Right-in Right-outs (RIROs).
