Description:

This section of US 395 was identified in the statewide crossover collision monitoring program for higher-than-average fatal collision rates for the period between January 1, 2017 and December 31, 2021. Of the 33 total crossover and run-off-road collisions identified within this segment, eight resulted in fatalities, seven involved injuries, and 18 were property damage only. The fatal collision rate was 2.2 times greater than the statewide average for similar facilities.

Caltrans proposes pavement widening, and other safety improvements, to 11.5 miles of United States Route 395 (US 395) in Lassen County. The programmable project alternative, Alternative A, will: • Provide a 12-foot paved median with concrete barrier and 8-foot paved shoulders throughout the project limits • Improve the CRZ throughout the project limits • Extend 46 culverts • Widen two bridges: 07-0023 Long Valley Creek and 07-0068 Galeppi UC • Install 950 LF of new guardrail • Construct 10 truck turnouts
