Description:

Amtrak proposes to replace the existing two-track moveable bridge, constructed in 1907.The Project would result in the replacement of the existing Pelham Bay Bridge, inclusive of the movable bascule span and the north and south approach structures, with a new two-track bridge across the Hutchinson River while maintaining train and marine traffic. The existing tracks would be realigned and the existing infrastructure, such as the catenary structures and other power and signal equipment would be modified to support construction of the new bridge. The replacement bridge would be located adjacent to the existing bridge and would not result in increased capacity over the bridge or an increase in the number of trains travelling over the bridge.
