Description:

The project plans to consolidate and grade-separate two at-grade highway-rail crossings of U.S. 90 (Jefferson Highway) between Harding Street in Jefferson Parish and Mistletoe Street in Orleans Parish, Louisiana.  The project is evaluating realigning the railroad tracks north of Jefferson Highway to combining two crossings into a single dual-track crossing at either the Canadian National/New Orleans Public Belt Railroad (CN/NOPB) or Canadian Pacific and Kansas City Southern (CPKC) crossing location, with the crossing either remaining at-grade or constructing a grade separated roadway overpass including frontage roads to connect to the local roadway network.   The two existing at-grade highway-rail crossings are Jefferson Highway (US 90), a Canadian National/New Orleans Public Belt Railroad crossing and a CPKC crossing between Brooklyn Avenue and Monticello Avenue are located less than 700 feet apart.
