Description:

The City of Galesburg, in partnership with The DeLong Co., Inc., Knox County Area
Partnership for Economic Development, and Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway (BNSF), is proposing to
construct the Galesburg Agricultural Intermodal Export Facility. This modern logistics hub will include a
24,500-foot rail loop, a 239,580-square-foot grain transload facility, and supporting infrastructure such as
site preparation, roadway improvements, and bridge demolition. The project site comprises approximately
229.10 acres of a 329-acre parcel located two miles southeast of downtown Galesburg, adjacent to
Interstate 74 and U.S. Highway 150, with direct access to the BNSF mainline. Once complete, the facility will
serve as a critical export gateway, moving agricultural commodities by rail to the Port of Los Angeles/Long
Beach and then to global markets in Asia. The facility will be constructed in Knox County, Illinois, within
census tracts identified as disadvantaged communities under Federal screening tools. The Project is funded
under the FY25 BUILD/RAISE program administered by FRA.
