Description:

This project is located in Colusa County along State Route 20 (SR 20) near Clearlake Park. It spans from a point 1.10 miles south of Lynch Canyon Trail to a point 0.50 miles north of East Marguerite Street. SR 20 is a two-lane, two-way rural highway. The primary enhancements for this project will be concentrated between Post Mile (PM) 10.3 and 11.8, approximately 2 miles to the west of Walnut Drive. A Road Safety Assessment report was conducted in November 2021 with the following partners: Caltrans; FHWA; City of Williams; Williams Police; Williams Fire; CHP; and Cal Fire. A joint workshop and an in-field review of the corridor was conducted on the segment of SR 20 and several short, mid-term, and long-term solutions were proposed, a number of which are included with this project. The primary objective of this project is to enhance safety at various locations along SR 20. To achieve this, the project seeks a programming amendment in the 2024 State Highway Operation and Protection Program (SHOPP) under the program code 20.XX.201.010, which falls under the Safety Improvement (SI) Program.
