Description:

The project will address the potential vulnerability of San Gregorio Creek Bridge (Br. No. 35- 0030) by either seismically retrofitting or replacing the bridge. The existing bridge railing will also be replaced/upgraded to standard bridge rail. The project proposed the following three build alternatives (Alternatives 1, 2 and 3) and a No-build alternative. Alternatives 1 and 2 correspond with the seismic retrofit option, while Alternative 3 would replace the bridge: Alternative 1: Seismically retrofit the existing bridge and replace/upgrade existing concrete baluster railings in both directions. Alternative 2: Seismically retrofit and widen the existing bridge to construct a 6-foot wide sidewalk with a see through railing on southbound only, and replace/upgrade existing concrete baluster railings in both directions. The addition of the sidewalk is likely to require the creation of an additional column being placed in the creek bed. Alternative 3: Replace the existing bridge with a new bridge to provide: two standard 12-foot lanes (one in each direction), a 2-foot undivided median, standard 8-foot shoulders, 6-foot wide Class III Bike Lane in both directions (part of 8-foot shoulders), a 6-foot wide sidewalk (southbound only), standard bridge railings, and see through railings.
