Description
Responsible Agency: FERC

Applications must be submitted to FERC for a certificate of public convenience and necessity for the construction or extension of natural gas facilities used for the sale or transportation of natural gas in interstate commerce. No construction or extension of natural gas facilities that are subject to the jurisdiction of FERC can be undertaken unless there is a certification of public convenience and necessity issued by FERC authorizing such acts or operations. As provided by FERC regulations, environmental reviews are conducted for interstate natural gas pipelines and related jurisdictional facilities, including underground storage and LNG peak-shaving facilities.
